"Sunset" oil on canvas depicting New England shoreline. Bricher was a significant second-generation Hudson River School landscapist and marine painter who is considered to be the last of the relevant American luminists. He is best known for his marine paintings depicting New England shorelines. Bricher is represented in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery, the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), and elsewhere.Signed lower left. Period hand-carved frame stamped, "M. A very fine Hepplewhite inlaid satinwood secretaire bookcase, having a pierced swan's neck pediment aboave a pair of glazed doors having geometric mullions centering graceful ovals enclosing adjustable shelves, the cornice with dentil moulding and drop pendant carving; the outset lower section with a secretaire drawer having a lined writing surface and an arrangement of small drawers and pidgeon holes, above three graduated drawers, raised on splayed bracket feet.
